Frequently asked questions.

there are a million coaches out there - what’s so special about you?

Well it’s not millions (stop being dramatic, bruh), but certainly there are many other coaches who can help you with your needs. And in fact, I hope you’re talking to some others. I would prefer that you see who else is out there before making your decision. What I bring to the table is a kind, open, but practical approach. I also bring in spirituality, energy and vibration into the picture, to help you see things in a new light. I believe in an inside-out approach - your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. Work on the inner stuff and watch the outer stuff change. Most of my work with clients, even in business building, tends to go to the deep stuff. And that’s where the long-lasting changes happen. So if you’re ready and willing to go the distance, then I will help you get there.

what’s the guarantee that i’ll reach my goals?

There is no guarantee. Well, let me rephrase that. If you decide that you’ll do the work of uncovering what’s blocking you from reaching your targets, then you’ll be in a much better place to reach them. I don’t do your push-ups for you. I can share resources, insights, and help you reach your own conclusions. But in the end the onus is on you to perform and move towards that which you seek. At the very least you will leave a changed person, from which you will make different choices and get different results. In the end, it’s up to you what you get out of this.

WHAT IF I CAN’T AFFORD to work with YOU?

It comes down to value, and people make things happen when they really want it to. I don’t want people selling a kidney to work with me (I mean, you only need one anyways - just sayin’), but if you’re okay with going to a resort and charging your credit card, then you can work with a coach or do something that improves your life and put that on a credit card too. It comes down to what is most important to you. I also understand people don’t have resources available to them, which is why I have several ways that we can work together.

DO YOU ONLY WORK WITH COACHES?

Not at all! I continue to work with people in life transition and in addiction recovery. If you’re in life transition, I help you answer the question “Now what?” as you navigate from one ending to a new beginning. I have coached dozens of people in areas like retirement, promotions, leadership, job satisfaction, major decisions, etc. To find out more, go to this page. In regards to addiction recovery, if you are struggling to establish a relationship with alcohol, or you’re in recovery and need that extra support to plug the holes of addiction programs, then I can help you. I have helped many clients move through their struggles around alcohol and the role it plays in their lives. To find out more, go to this page.

should i join the group or work 1:1?

It depends. The advantage of the group is that you get the collective energy of the group, an accountability partner, and different voices. Group calls are often brimming with energy and people help one another. With private coaching, you get my undivided attention and we can go wherever you want to go. If you’ve chosen the longer packages, you also do get the Liftoff material, but as a reference library for you to use whenever you want. If you’re not sure what is best for you, contact me and we can figure it out together.

do YOU DO ONE-OFF SESSIONS?

Rarely, but I do them. There would have to be a compelling reason for this. But I do offer maintenance sessions for clients who have been through the initial packages. We will discuss what that looks like in your final session.

I want someone to tell me what to do every single step of the way - is that you?

Hell to the no. As a coach, the agenda is not mine, but yours. You guide and direct where we go, in regards to what you need help with. Then I will give you the resources and mentoring to help you get there. But it’s up to you to take the actions and to take the initiative to do things. You will get homework most times, and some action plans along the way, but this isn’t a step-by-step program. There are plenty of coaches with those, and if that’s what you like, then I wish you the very best. The problem with those step-by-step programs is that they don’t give space for deep diving into gremlins and the inner critic, and they don’t give way for the times when a big obstacle comes along and needs moving through coaching. So if you want personal guidance and someone to be with you along the journey, then I’m here for you!

You sound kind of grumpy - are you always like this?

Ha! As I say in my About page, I take what I do seriously, but I don’t take myself seriously. I’m a 50 year old who feels like he’s 31 years old. I crack dad jokes and laugh a lot. It’s part of the joy of life. We will laugh together, no doubt. In fact, if we don’t have at least one laugh in our time together, I will give you another session on me, in which I will tell you awful knock-knock jokes until you crack. We may also cry at times, and that happens. We are human, and have a wide range of emotions. The one (or three) thing(s) you can count on in our time together is that I will always be present, professional and empathetic. Out time together is sacred.
